KS2 History Careers Month!

This week, Key Stage Two took part in a workshop led by Ian Blakesley, local Historian and Education Officer from Clifton Park Museum. The Focus of the workshop looked at the different careers linked to History. At Foljambe Primary we have a different careers focus each month, and in October we focus on career options linked to History, with an aim to inspire our students to dream big for their own futures.

By studying History, our students are learning vital skills which can lead to some incredible career options for their futures. Every day, we are surrounded by history – every building you pass can tell a story about its time, and every story in the news results from thousands of events that happened in the past. Studying History can tell us a lot about the world around us, and if you find that interesting then some of these jobs that Ian spoke about today may be for you.

The quote: “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it” is a true testament to the impact that Historians have on our lives. As a Historian, you may be aware of many of the mistakes made in the past, and can use that to guide your actions. It is also important, when studying History, to carefully judge the quality of a source. These skills can make historians well-suited to a range of different jobs.

Well done KS2, you listened brilliantly and made your school very proud!
