On Tuesday 17th December, our Key Stage 2 students were invited to St. Leonard’s Church, to take part in a Christingle Service.
During the service, each child took a Christingle, and the candles were all lit to create a warm, magical glow, symbolising the light of Christ, and bringing hope to people living in darkness. The Christingles were made using oranges, sweets, and raisins. The children lit the candles at the end of a service to spread a magical glow around everyone!
Each element of a Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story:
⭐ The orange represents the world
⭐ The red ribbon (or tape) symbolises the love and blood of Christ
⭐ ️The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creation
⭐ ️The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.
Everyone listened to a story, played games, and sang lots of lovely songs. The children had a wonderful time, and they all followed the Foljambe Way by listening to others as well as showing respect.
